Becky
Weidman-Winter teaches flute and music theory at
Western State
College of Colorado and is the Central/Southwest Chair for
the
Colorado Flute Association. She has won the Flute
Society of Kentucky (2008) and
Mid-South (2007) Young Artist Competitions, received honorable
mention in the Myrna Brown Young Artist Competition (2008) and
participated in the Jean-Pierre Rampal Competition in Paris,
France (2001).
She is a founding member of the Mountain Music Ensemble and
performs with the Crested Butte Music Festival, Crested Butte
Mountain Theater, and Lake City Chamber Music Festival. She
has performed as a guest artist and
clinician across the U.S. and given world premieres of chamber
works for the flute including Contra Songs by Catherine
McMichael and Landscapes by Chappell Kingsland.
Becky has been a member of the Las Colinas Symphony and band Tin
Roof Tango in Dallas, Texas and performed frequently with the
Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra. She holds degrees from the
University of North
Texas (DMA), University of Colorado at Boulder (MM), and
OberlinConservatory (BM). Her principal teachers include
Michel Debost, John Oberbrunner, Alexa Still, and Terri Sundberg.
